-Headline of the day-
"Palin beginning to irritate some Senate GOPers."

Geez, what took them so long? Caribou Barbie's got a voice like broken beer bottles in a meatgrinder. But it turns out that's not the problem. The problem is that Sarah's "taking her own White House aspirations entirely too seriously."

See, other people want to run for president too and every time Sarah Palin shows up, everything becomes all about Palin 2012. She was invited to a big GOP fundraiser, then wasn't, then Newt Gingrich was, then she was, and now who the hell knows? It was actually yesterday and I suppose I could check someplace and see if she showed, but who really cares? (OK, I did and she showed)

Anyway, she's becoming a diva Palin in the ass for a lot of GOPers and they don't like it. (The Hill)

-Steele's asshats-
Michael Steele needs to go to some sort of metaphor school. Speaking to the College Republican annual conference, Mike grabbed some students out of the audience and had them pretend to wear a hat that "very boldly says GOP."

"The problem we had is that too many of our friends, neighbors, colleagues, family members, are taking the hat off because we have decided we don't like the way they wear it..." Steele told the audience while the kids stood there wearing invisible hats. "Let me ask you, what do they have in common? They’re all wearing the same hat... The difference is, Barack Obama has asked your generation to wear his hat, his hat -- the hat of one man. I'm asking you to go out and ask your friends to wear our hat -- the hat of an idea."

The "hat of an idea?" The state of college Republicans these days was demonstrated when no one in the audience yelled out, "What the fuck are you even talking about?" Instead, according to the report, "the bewildered students stood in front of the crowd obediently for nearly ten minutes..." while Steele went on and on about his imaginary hats.

But they were hats of an idea. So there's that. If Steele comes up with imaginary socks of righteousness or blazers of conviction to go with the hats of an idea, Democrats will be totally screwed.

Teabags forever! w00t! (Think Progress, with video of might)

-Speaking of Sarah...-
Taegan Goddard has this exchange between Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity:

Palin: We are the only state with a negative tax rate where we don't have any income, sales or property tax statewide, and yes we have a share of our oil resource revenue that goes back to the people that own the resources. Imagine that.

Hannity: And it went up higher since you've been the governor and you negotiated with the oil companies. That all went up so people get a bigger check.

Palin: There was a corrupt tax system up there and we had a couple of lawmakers end up in jail because of the tax system that was adopted so we cleaned it up and said we wanted a fair and equitable share of the resources that we own, and the people will share in those resource revenues that are derived.

(A few minutes later...)

Palin: If Americans aren't paying attention, unfortunately our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize. Certainly that is so far from what the founders of our country had in mind for us.

Hannity: Socialism?

Palin: Well... that is where we are headed.

So first it's "Yay for Alaskan socialism!" then it's "Boo for Obama's socialism!"

You know, if you could just bottle all that stupid...

Well, I'm not sure what you could do with it, but you'd have great big oil tankers full of stupid. (Political Wire)
