Stormy Daniels
Believe it or not, Republicans don't want to party with this woman

-Headline of the day-
"Stormy Stunt Irks GOP."

You remember porn actress Stormy Daniels, right? She's the star of Bless Their Little Holes and Operation: Tropical Stormy who's planning a run against Louisiana Senator David Vitter.

Now she's planning to run as a Republican. According to one report, "In a Tuesday news release making light of a recent Republican spending controversy, Stormy Daniels notes that the Republican National Committee picked up a nearly $2,000 tab at a sex-themed California nightclub. Daniels' statement says she was a lifelong Democrat, but that the Republicans best espouse what she called her 'libertarian' views about sex and money." See, 'cause Republicans have porn star values, so it makes sense.

Anyway, the GOP didn't take that lying down... or standing up... or from behind. They're blaming Democrats for Stormy's announcement -- specifically, Vitter's most likely general election opponent, Charlie Melancon.

"It's been clear for months, and evidence bears it out, that this is nothing but a shameless PR stunt engineered by Democrat Party operatives with connections to the Melancon campaign," said National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Brian Walsh -- while supplying exactly none of all that evidence. "Charlie Melancon and his campaign operatives owe voters in Louisiana an apology, as do media outlets like The Associated Press who have given ink to this nonsense at a time when there are so many important issues facing the state of Louisiana and our country."

So it's the Democrats', Melancon's, and the AP's fault that the Republican Party has become a laughing stock -- not the Republican Party's. Here's a little PR tip for you guys; when someone pulls a political prank on you, laugh it off. Don't scream and shout and shine a spotlight on it, because that's just going to get the words "bondage-themed lesbian sex show" in the press again. And Again. And Again.

Not that I'm complaining. You guys go ahead and keep that story rolling.

It's really making these roundups easier. (Politico)
