Obama is Hitler. It's just that simple. See, Barack Obama's stimulus package is just like Hitler's in that it relies on military spending and conquest to... No, wait, that's not it. Obama's stimulus package is more like FDR's. If anyone is the historical opposite of Hitler, it's Churchill or Franklin Roosevelt.
So Obama's like Hitler because he took a national disaster -- like the Reichstag fire or 9/11 -- and capitalized on it to whip the populace up into a frenzy of fear, eventually leading up to the unprovoked invasion of a nation that had nothing to do with said disaster. Obama's Hilter and Iraq is Poland... Oops! That's George W. Bush I'm thinking of.
No, Barack Obama is exactly like Adolf Hitler because people say so. You don't need an analogy or parallel, it's just true. So shut up, turn off your damned brain, and listen to the nice shrieking voices from conservative media. Obama's Hitler because Glenn Beck says so, Ann Coulter says so, and Sean Hannity says so. Obama's a fascist, until he's a socialist. That these are polar opposites (fascism was founded to counter leftism) and constitute a political oxymoron is beside the point. Socialist fascism makes as much sense as pro-slavery abolitionism. But conservative media carefully guards their audience's ignorance, so there's no way the people being told about President Obama's socialist fascism know any of that. Not that they'd want to know anyway. Wingnuts tune in to wingnut media precisely because it preserves their ignorance. Knowledge is for liberal elitists; the real "folks," as Bill O'Reilly refers to them, believe what they're told to believe, because that's what real Americans do. That O'Reilly's constant references to "the folks" would be a literal translation of Hitler's term der volk is certainly lost on his audience. They don't know things like that because they don't want to know. What they know is only what they want to know and it doesn't make any difference whether or not it's true. "The folks" get to decide for themselves what's true. And what's true is that Barack Obama is exactly like Hitler.
There was a time when conservative media considered this sort of thing the worst thing that had ever happened in the history of mankind. But that was when Bush was president, invading countries for no reason, torturing people, imprisoning whomever he wanted, and spreading propaganda in a most H-wordlike fashion. That the comparison was obvious and sound was beside the point -- it was the worst thing that had ever happened in the history of mankind, hands down, no contest.
[FOX News, January 2004:]
What MoveOn.org wanted was for people to submit 30-second ads that were critical of President Bush, but what the liberal-leaning organization got was a controversy over one entry that compared Bush to Adolf Hitler.
The ad in question used a tape recording of the Nazi leader speaking while it showed images of Hitler and German military prowess during World War II. At the end of the ad, a photo of Bush raising his hand to take the oath of office is seen.
"A nation warped by lies. Lies fuel fear. Fear fuels aggression. Invasion. Occupation. What were war crimes in 1945 is foreign policy in 2003," the ad said.
The ad never even aired, but that didn't stop it from being the worst thing that had ever happened in the history of mankind. Then-RNC head Ed Gillespie said it was "the worst and most vile form of political hate speech."
American Jewish Congress President Jack Rosen played the antisemitism card, accusing MoveOn.org of "using the memory of that genocide as a political prop."
"President Bush has shown us leadership in Iraq, and our troops have liberated a people who were oppressed by another murderous dictator... comparing the commander-in-chief of a democratic nation to the murderous tyrant Hitler is not only historically specious, it is morally outrageous," he said.
Maybe, but apparently it's only "historically specious" and "morally outrageous" to compare "the commander-in-chief of a democratic nation to the murderous tyrant Hitler" when said C-in-C is Bush. Rosen remains silent about the "Obama is Hitler" campaign right wing media is now engaged in -- at least, as far as I can find.
Yet, run "Obama fascist" through Media Matters' archive search and you get 31 pages of results, with the latest entry being today, in a column about FOX"s resident madman Glenn Beck. When a MoveOn.org ad that never even aired was the worst thing that had ever happened in the history of mankind, it's a little hard to understand why there's so much silence about the same message being broadcast about a different president -- nationwide, every goddam day.
Or maybe it's easy to understand. Maybe these talking heads and radio morons don't actually believe anything other than that Republicans must always win. Maybe they don't have any core beliefs other than that Democrats are always wrong and the ends always justify the means. Ethics are irrelevant, truth is irrelevant -- even their own hypocrisy is irrelevant. Other than believing that the GOP must always come out on top, these people seem to be nihilists.
So now that people showed up at thse stupid "tea party" astroturf protests wearing t-shirts comparing Obama to Hitler, that's just an indication of the success of their messaging. They didn't believe the Bush/Hitler comparison was bad either, because they don't believe in good or bad -- only success or failure. Again, the ends always justify the means.
The next time some right wing talking head says "I believe this" or "I think that," remember it's a lie. They don't seem to believe in anything.
